The Ojai Planning Commission voted Tuesday to approve the design review permit for an exterior remodel of the Ojai Valley Community Hospital. The commission stipulated two conditions along with its approval: That the architectural design plans be modified to include a “curb cut” for a wheelchair access ramp, and that there be sufficient signage to compensate for any change in traffic flow.

“We are doing a façade remodel, we are not changing the circulation on site,” said Scott Boydstun of Rasmussen & Associates Architects, the firm chosen by OVCH to draft remodel plans. “We hate to spend money on things that might get torn up later.”

“You really listened to us, and came back with some good solutions,” said Commissioner Kathy Nolan of the revised and approved design plans.

“I think the community will really benefit from this,” agreed Commissioner Steven Foster.
