CMH and Ojai Valley Community Hospital Announce New Chiefs of Staff

Community Memorial Health System welcomes Dr. Lamar Bushnell as Chief of Staff at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura and Dr. Helen Petroff as Chief of Staff at Ojai Valley Community Hospital. Their terms run for two years.

Both physicians will serve on the Board of Trustees as their hospital’s medical staff representative.

Dr. Bushnell is a cardiovascular surgeon certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the California Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons group. He received his medical degree from the University Of Utah School Of Medicine in 1987, completed his general surgery residency from the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in 1992, and his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship in 1995 from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Dr. Petroff has been a family medicine physician at Valley Oak Family Practice in Ojai since 2006. She received her medical degree from University of California Irvine in 2003. Dr. Petroff completed her family medicine residency through the University California Los Angeles in the Northridge Hospital in the San Fernando Valley.

Dr. Antonio Ruelas, specializing in family medicine and Dr. Adam Rivadeneyra, specializing in family and sports medicine have joined together to meet the growing healthcare needs in your community.

Dr. Adam Rivadeneyra specializes in family and sports medicine. He received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies. He completed residency training at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, and a primary care sports medicine fellowship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Texas. Dr. Rivadeneyra is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Antonio Ruelas specializes in family medicine. He has practiced in Santa Paula for 33 years and is relocating to Premiere Health Center. Dr. Ruelas received his medical degree from University of California Davis School of Medicine and completed his family practice residency at University of California Davis Sacramento Medical Center. Dr. Ruelas is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and is a member of Ventura County Medical Association and California Medical Association.

The Community Memorial Healthcare Foundation is holding its 44th Benefactors’ Ball on Saturday, April 22, with proceeds benefitting the new Community Memorial Hospital.

At this event, four notable individuals will be recognized with the prestigious Cephas Bard Award, named after the founder of the first Community Memorial Hospital. The Cephas Bard award honors those who enhance the reputation and quality of Community Memorial Hospital. Awardees to be recognized at this event are: Community Leaders of the Year – Don & Bonnie Carlton; CMH Physician – Dr. Dominic J. Tedesco; CMH Retired Physician – Dr. Siegfried O. Storz.

To begin the festivities to celebrate the opening of the new hospital, this year’s Benefactors’ Ball will be held “Under the Stars” at the new Community Memorial Hospital.

Edie Marshall Named New Auxiliary Chair at CMH

CMHS congratulates Edie Marshall on her selection as the new Auxiliary Chair. Edie has been a longtime member of the CMH Auxiliary and has volunteered over 11,000 hours. Edie was also the head of the Junior Volunteers for ten years.

Founded on a tradition of service, the CMH Auxiliary is an organization whose mission is to augment the programs and services of Community Memorial Hospital, a not-for-profit facility.

Auxiliary volunteers are men, women and students, from varied backgrounds, who share a common interest in helping others and providing comfort and assistance to patients and their families.
